Welcome to Diary of a Historian!

My name is Christina and I began this blog in 2012 to share my research on Ms. Rachel Flowers. In 2014, I graduated with my Bachelor of Arts in History and most recently, my Master of Arts in History. This fall, I will begin a PhD program focusing on African American and American history.

This blog primarily details my current research on the Flowers family; however, I will also share my PhD journey. This blog shares my personal thoughts as well as guidance and insight for women of color pursuing their doctoral degree. I invite you to take this journey with me as I share my “diary” with you.

Thank you for visiting my blog.

  1. What a fascinating blog! Thanks for liking my post on racism (and hope). I think you should write a short story about Rachel – you know, make up some things to fill in the blanks of her life. Sounds great! Thanks for sharing. Glad you’re majoring in history

  2. Nice work on the blog Christina. I saw the family tree you had in one of the blogs and thought I would put it into Ancestry.com for you; a fake Rachel tree. The first hint I got was of a real family tree for Rachel with all kinds of info. I sent that owner a link to your wonderful blog so maybe the two of you can connect. Good Luck in your tavels. Be safe.
